I upgraded the website's music player at http://dj.terminalshell.com. It should work better, cross browser now, and it looks a lot better. The default setup is so you can just hit play, and cycle through all the songs. If you want a specific one, click on it on the list below the player and that song will play. If you want a random playlist, then use this url: http://dj.terminalshell.com/?random And, what's even better is that there is an upload feature now. Yep, that's right. No more bugging Wolf to put more songs on the DJ. Just do it yourself! There are a couple restrictions though... Firstly, they have to be mp3's. No wav's, wma's, etc. Only mp3's. Secondly, there is an upload limit of 15MB, so the songs can't be bigger than that. Check before you upload. It will claim you are Missing Information if the file size is too big. Thirdly, the system allows you to enter your own song title and artist. Please enter the right information. Your IP address is associated with the file, so if you abuse the system, I'll just block your IP, and you can't use it anymore. Fair enough? By the way, did I mention that if you upload a song, it will be available to play in-game instantly? Well I just did. Cuz it's true! So get to uploading songs everyone! We'll have a party to celebrate the release of the new ZS! Last edited 07/14/10 at 08:14:55 for: 15MB |

If the song is in mp3 format, it will work. Otherwise, it probably won't... Also, what do you mean lose your original upload? |

Just wondering, is there something to prevent multiple uploads of the same song?

Yep, if you do it, and its exactly the same song, then I'll probably block your IP. So check the list first :P I will probably add a check to prevent it at some point... |

Of course. I can't touch your computer from the server. It's a one way transaction

Yes, its not moving it to the web site, its just coping it. You will still have you music.

So, I thought the 8MB limit was a little low, so I did a custom install of PHP on the webserver to override the webhost's default raise the limit. You can now upload files up to 15MB. It might take a while for larger files, but it should work up to 15MB. Enjoy! |

Couldn't you have just added or modified the php.ini to increase the upload limit, without having to do a complete reinstall?
Code:
upload_max_filesize 15M

Its a shared host, I don't have access. Had to set up PHP in a wrapper, then use a custom php.ini. It's all good. I meant to do it at some point anyway. |

You were telling me before how you had shell access and control of everything on the server. Well forgive me for assuming everything included that ![]() Curiously, have you actually tried? I've had shared hosts that have allowed me to write my own php.ini in the past.

![]() Curiously, have you actually tried? I've had shared hosts that have allowed me to write my own php.ini in the past. I have full access to everything within my account. This includes the ability to run cgi php with my own custom php.ini. I just can't modify the global shared one that everyone uses. |

Yep, and if they do that then I'll just take down the service. But so far people have been pretty good about it. |

Or to burst Wolf's bubble most people have dynamic IPs so just a simple re authentication with their service provider or a reset of their router is enough to give them a new IP for MOAR mingery! That said there's usually a certain pool of addresses they're entitled too so they might only have like 30 addresses that they'll ever get and afterwards they just re use addresses, also Mr. Wolf could just ban their range as most ISPs include a range of addresses for cities to keep it all neat and tidy. Also, to avoid duplicates, perhaps a MD5 hash of the files and if it matches tell 'em to try again? It'll at least stop people uploading the exact same files, or random files that happen to conflict as MD5 sucks.
