I've noticed that in the past few days a bunch of sad little kids (probably) have been spamming the server with name hacks, advertising, and causing unbearable lagg. Hopefully there's something that we can do to stop this. Yes i know im pointing out the obvious but this is for those who haven't been on the server recently.

What I've wanted to now is what members should do about hackers, votekick or just record a demo? It seems like when there aren't admins on, someone should do something about it.

ive been going on lately even without being able to play since the computer im using at the moment fails at play zs,therefore staring into the empty part of the map just so i can watch over the server.
Yes ive seen this happening a lot lately, and its not easy catching these hackers, since they rapidly use namehacks, and makes it hard finding their steam ID, so mostly Mr. Wolf could handle this situation.

Oh, gotta love those reliable macintosh's.. Anyways, to catch name change hackers; just type 'status' in console(without quotes) and look for two players with the same names. Copy one of the steam ID's and search them in the steam browser. You will essentially find steam ID bans or a profile and that will reveal the name change hackers identity. Pretty simple really.

Yep. If they are constantly changing names, another method is to find two people with the same name with status, remember their userid numbers next to their name, then type status again and check which one changed. The one that changed is your name-hacker. THEN you record their steam ID, and tell an admin to ban them

Lol i didn't know that method. What i do is go into tab and look at the name that is changing. A box appears after the names that are stolen but the original name does not have a box. Then I do status and get ID :P

Listen, you gotta stop ripping on me OR macs cause i have a mac, its more than 5 years old, never meant for gaming, and they never were, and still most of them run games way better then 1/2 of the pcs out there. They happen to be more reliable and apple even changed our logic board for free. and its still a nice surprise that gmod will run on this one. (fuck i sound like my mom)

I did try using status in console multiple times, but it did not seem to be 2 people with the same names, otherwise i would of noticed myself.

Anyway, the macbook PRO came back today, and i can play normally again :D

For hacking related issues report to Steams Vac section and they will surely look into it if you supply them with steam_ids, as for the Administrators and Mr. Wolf, I believe they will be taken care of properly.

About 90% of the "hacks" are actually lua exploits
